Happy Blog Birthday

It’s October! It’s been two years since my first post in this particular blog.  Same old Nessa, same as depressed, same as confused.  I’m sure something must have changed but I can’t put my finger on it. My blog did change! It went from 2 readers to… many more! And I’m glad about it.  I’ve met awesome people through this thing.

As a bonus, this is my first post ever in a blog.  I don’t recall having older blogs than that or journals or anything.  When I was little I tried to keep a journal but it never went over the fifth page or so.  My old blog is kind of embarrasing, and I sound like a little brat.  That’s why I love it.

I don’t know what made me start blogging in the first place.  Do you know why you started?

Blog Maintenance

Sept 27th.  The awesome Sulz has allowed me to have her CSS upgrade.   I have absolutely no experience with CSS but I can read.  I know HTML and I have some common sense so I’m going to experiment with it.  If I mess up then I’ll ask for help.  So, bear with me.

EDIT: Got a general idea of what does what and before I continue, I am going to take out The Gimp and try to plan what I want my blog to look like.

On sick leave

Hi everyone.

Sorry about not commenting lately or not responding to your posts.  It just hasn’t been possible.

1) I’ve been very sick in the past week.  Respiratory infection complicated with asthma attacks and if I’m not bound to bed then I’m at the ER getting treatment.  I think I will be fine, but I’m not sure how long it will last… I rarely get sick, but when I do, it gets horribly complicated.

2) Two or three days ago, I tried to use my computer but my family informed me that it won’t start.  I checked it quickly and I couldn’t figure it out.  I have no energy to get into that now, so for the moment, my computer is dead.

I’ll be back soon, I hope you are all doing well.

I find this meme hard to do.

· There are people whose mood can be influenced by the music they hear, but this isn’t the case for me. The music that I like won’t work when I’m depressed, so I avoid it in attempts not to ruin it. So, no Dresden Dolls for me to lift my mood when I’m down. Instead, I tend to find a way to escape by surrounding myself with things that go along with my mood. It is easier to let things out then, and leave me, still depressed but not so emotionally constipated.

That said, I can’t think of any song that has inspired me to do something. Instead they are helpers… say I am already inspired, they can help set a mood on what I’m doing making the whole proccess fun.

Right now I’m feeling innocently silly and adventurous. I am writing this, a meme, and the music I’m listening to (Pretty in Pink-cover by Dresden Dolls) complements it, but wasn’t involved in causing me to do this.

So, lets talk about what DOES inspire me to write my posts. I guess it’s not that complicated… I usually have no plans, I just sit here and write. Sometimes I will get a bulb over my head, but the situations have been so diverse it’s hard to describe them. And sometimes I get inspiration from reading other blogs, like now. Well, now doesn’t count, because it’s a meme. (BTW, what’s going on with the alignment of my posts?)

i am: sitting, breathing and doing nothing particularly productive except pushing my deconditioning syndrome to further levels.
i think: a lot, but I am 3 brains short of what I could be thinking if I could get them. And then I’d go nuts.
i know: how to make socks talk. Just throw them under my bed and wait a few years.
i want: to have an all countries visa and endless money to go everywhere.
i have: itchy eyes.
i wish: for a prince charmy to cook for me and clean my house and wash my clothes and make me nice desserts and then go away so I can enjoy them.
i hate: beans.
i miss: being a puppy.
i fear: the moment right before dying, and worms.
i feel: relaxed
i hear: myself typing… there am I! And there am I again! And… well, just now, “Air on G string” started. I adore that song.
i smell: Nothing whatsoever.

i regret:I usually don’t regret things. Right now I can’t think of anything.
i love: my new all-in-one tool, it has a knife, a hammer, and the whole kit in one… well, it’s not mine, it is my dad’s. It’s his birthday today.

UPDATE = I HAVE CREATED A BLOGROLL PAGE THIS ONE INCLUDED.  A LITTLE PLACE FOR EVERY BLOG TO BE.  I HAVE INCLUDED DESCRIPTIONS OF WHAT EACH LINK MEANS TO ME…. “WHAT A LINK MEANS TO ME” POETIC HUH?  WELL, MAYBE NOT.  JUST FOLLOW THE LINK.

Letters From Exile (LA)

It started as both of us being victims of blog scrapping off by the same criminal. Some site that as I see is now gone, that was all about depression and just posted entries from my blog and many other bloggers. LA very kindly emailed me to let me know about this, just like in the past Sulz emailed me to let me know about another blog scrapper case. After they sent notifications of this to the appropriate places, I found myself immersed in LA’s blog instead.

1) It’s a blog about depression.

2) It’s not long and whiney like mine, although my blog is not “about” depression, it’s about Me, the complicated and confused Nessa who also happens to suffer from depression. So I get to be whiney… maybe not, but I still am. And you still read me, so there.

3) Although there are thousands of blogs about depression, this one particulary attracted me, because it has very good material about how depression affects herself and other people in a very concise, easy to read, and even in a fun way.

I’d like to ask some of the people who are kind of confused about the depressed girl who writes here (me) and her “emo” entries, to read some of the entries of my featured blog, since in my opinion, it would help you understand what it’s like to suffer from depression as opossed to “ohhh I’m so depressed, my boyfriend broke up with me today”.

4) Of course, besides all that, I liked it because it triggers a “DITTO!” response on myself. And a sweet jealous hate of “why didn’t I think of that before”. That of course attracts blog scrappers but I’m not one of them.

I could end my post here, but I seem to be incapable of making short posts. So I am going to point to a few posts that triggered the ditto response.

Actually, I just wanted to ask you people:

What is the first thing you consider when you arrive at a new blog?

I mean, you obviously consider the whole content of the blog after reading a few entries, but what is the hook? Because you don’t read the whole content of every blog you read, or do you? Wow, you’re a machine. Scrapper!

*ahem*

So, what is the most common thing that hooks you into a blog?

• A hot entry
• The main theme… “A blog about atheism”, “A blog about books”
• The visual Theme (The skin).
• The About Page
• The titles of the posts
